HomeWord from the Captain...Apr 3, 2007
This year we celebrate our 10th year anniversary. We celebrate God's faithfulness to us as a company.

God has been faithful in providing officers and VALs and post sec throughout the 10 years and made it possible for us to come this far.
10 years ago we had about 10 girls and 3 officers/VALs. Now we have 48 girls and more than 10 officers/VALs/Post sec.

There are many things to thank the Lord for. For now let us all give thanks for the following:
1. The present faithful batch of officers, teachers, VALs and post sec girls who are currently serving.
2. The 11 new sec 1 privates that have enrolled into 54th Company. It is not by chance that you are all here!
3. The Gold that we have achieved for our Company Awards 2009.
4. The many friendships that have been forged through GB and during the camp. The Lord will continue to bless and strengthen these bonds.

The Orientation Camp is over and I had a good time.

I do hope all of you who went gained from the whole experience.

Sec 4s& 5s and post sec, thank you for your efforts in planning and running the camp. Many of you displayed servant leadership and I am very proud of you. Many of you were every so willing to step in to help your peers/seniors and even juniors when they needed it.

Sec 3s, I know many of you are looking forward to planning next year's camp. This year is your turn to rise up and take over the squads, step up and be role models to the lower sec.

Sec 2s you are no more the youngest batch in the company. Look after the sec 1s and shower them with as much tender loving care and guidance that you have received and more.

Sec 1s I welcome you into our big family. Join us and be prepared to experience and learn many things. Be open to trying new things and going beyond your comfort zone.

Once again I urge all of you to grow to be more like Christ and be faithful. Start with small things...like attending GB regularly, coming in the correct attire and bringing the necessary things. As you get accustomed to handling the small things, more will be tasked to you and only then will you be able to be stretched to reach your potential. Faithful in the small, faithful in all.

Love,
Mrs Ho-Liang Shi'en

54th is the light in West Coast then it spreads to South zone, then it spreads to the whole of Singapore, then it spreads to South East Asia, then it spreads to Asia, then it spreads to the world and then it spreads to outerspace! to sum up! we not the light yet the light yet not the light! but we are not ordinary girls because we are GB girls. I love 54th GB so much. Thank you for the wonderful night that the juniors gave me and the others sec four. I will never forget the days and memories I had in GB . I am going to miss it so much after I graduate but I promise that I will come back whenever i got the time. I hope that GB will continue to achieve Gold for the company award and all the girls in GB will become a leader. 54th GB ROCKS....:p

Shines Camp

This camp was fun and exciting. We learned many things like leadership and teamwork. We also got to know each other better.

The obstacle course was extremely hard. When I was on the log, I was blindfolded. Rachel was guiding me but I still suffered a fall. The following day we went on a trek and it was tiring because we also had a time limit. We had to walk a long way from the campsite to East Coast Park. When we reached, we pitched our tents and went to sleep. The next morning, both teams walked back to the campsite together. The trek was made endurable by out playing games together as we were walking.

Good times don't last forever.
That's true.
Here in GB, my memories last forever.
Yes they do.

Though i would love to join another CCA,
Where there was no drill but filled with game-play,
But i still feel thankful i'm here,
Because it renewed my faith in the Lord i cherish dear,

I can't find another similar contingent,
In jurong, orchard but only here in west coast.
In the CCA i'm in,
In the group of crazy 54th girls I love most.

Girls Brigade, despite everything i spite of you,
You've taught me respect, teamwork and friendship too.

So thank you.

The GB shines camp was one of my most memorable moment in GB. I have learnt many things such as leadership, teamwork, conflict management, etc during the camp. The word "initiative" always been said throughout the camp and the word brought every girl in 54th GB more closer together as it give everyone energy and confidence to work together to complete the challenge in every activity given during the camp. Every end of the activity, the team will be brought together to discuss the feeling and lesson learnt during activity and everyone have voice out her view. This session help me to be more confidence and give me the chance to get to know more about the others in GB. What I most like were the 20km hike and high wall climbing. tho the 20km hike was tiring, the moment together made us more closer and stronger. I will not forget the big dish of economic rice we had for dinner that given us the energy to rush to East Coast Park. Spending the night there in a tent was fun and noisy (due to the horrible singing made by a group of boys). :p. The time when we climbed the wall, I found it very touching as it was the first time i saw the teamwork and trust that everyone have in each other. I enjoy this camp very much and like to thanks the trainers and everyone who make this camp a unforgettable one. :D ...Janet...
Sorry for the very late sharing.

this is the first camp that we had without any vals and officer only MS GOH was with us for the whole camp.
it is really a meaningful camp for me us it is the first time that i really really give of my best in every activities.
Confident, leadership skill, leading one another, trust is wat i have learn during the whole camp especially the last day we were climbing the wall without any safety equiment only the support from the girls. i was really afraid, but i trust my friends that no matter what happen they will be there to save me,so i manage to climb up the wall.i enjoy the most was the hike when we need to move as a team from 1 destination to another despite all of us are so tired but we still manage to cheer and support one another, this is when i see the whole team is so united.this camp is really a fun and meaningful camp for me, i learn alot of things like pitiching a tent, leadership skill, trusting your friend, confident and building a strong relationship with the GB girls.
i reall enjoy this camp alot. looking forward to more camp coming up:))

Confidence, leadership are the constant words going on my mind during the GB shines camp! i really enjoyed the bonding between the brigade and so far from my four years in GB its the first time i witness such bond between everyone so much trust from one another during the rope obstacles course and how we manage to climb over a tall wall without any safety precautions except the support from the girls. what i like BEST was the 20 km hike, tho it was tough it made us stronger we had to go on as a team and proceed to our destination, upon reaching we just ran as a whole even tho we were all tired we made it, i really love sleeping together in a tent at east coast park tho it was really pack i felt really cosy with the girls.we had our own singspiration on the way to our starting point of the hike and on the way on our journey home, tho everyone was worn out we made an enough to sing together and despite forgetting the lyrics we hum along it was really sweet(: the food and the trainers were GREAT(: i really enjoyed my time there and im looking forward for the next camp! TRY(:
